Have a plan to improve opportunities for children and families in Texas? The Meadows Foundation funds nonprofit and public-sector projects across the state. An early learning organization may have a relevant proposal if its work aligns with the Foundation’s education, health, or human services priorities.
This is a broad foundation grant program, not a dedicated child care grant or individual training scholarship. Each proposal is reviewed on its own merits.
Applicants must be qualified 501(c)(3) public charities or public entities. The proposed work must benefit people in Texas, although the organization itself does not have to be headquartered there. The Foundation does not award grants to individuals or for-profit child care businesses.
The Foundation primarily funds specific programs and projects. For an early childhood organization, a proposal might describe a well-planned education or family services project with measurable results. Funding for a particular activity, including staff development, should be confirmed through the Foundation’s review process; it is not automatically an eligible expense simply because it relates to child care.
The Foundation looks for organizations that can carry out their plans, have identified other sources of support, and can show the impact they expect to achieve. Review its program areas and previous grants to assess whether your project is a fit.
Read the official application guidelines and submit a proposal through the Foundation’s online application portal. A letter of inquiry is not required. The Foundation accepts proposals throughout the year, limits organizations to one proposal every 12 months, and recommends applying at least four months before funding is needed.
ChildCareEd’s Texas Director Credential is a professional development option for child care leaders. If training is part of a larger proposed project, ask the Foundation whether that expense fits your request. The credential course is not automatically funded by a Meadows Foundation grant.
Ready to move forward? Define the Texas community your project will serve, identify measurable outcomes, and review the Foundation’s priorities before submitting your proposal.
